Can CBD Combat the Fastest Growing Disease in the United States?

With the 2018 Farm Bill Signed by the President, and with the explosion of several hundred CBD companies in 2018, almost everyone has heard the hype about how CBD can help anxiety, chronic pain, and depression…

…But what about a faster growing, and arguably more serious issue?

This life altering disease is associated with:

Cardiovascular disease

Cancer

Organ failure

Alzheimer’s

And dozens of other chronic issues and ailments.

This disease jumped from relative obscurity, to being the 7th leading cause of death in America today (and experts think this number is quite low due to the fact that only 35% of people who have this disease are diagnosed), and over ¼ of American seniors are now diagnosed with this terrible disease.

How does CBD help those with diabetes?

While CBD research in the United States is currently lacking, researcher scientists at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem led by Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, found CBD receptors in many different bodily tissues. The good doctor and his fellow researchers stated that the therapeutic effects of CBD can fit different receptors found in these tissues. They went on to state that different illness such as diabetes, atherosclerosis, and cardiovascular disease could therefore be treated by using CBD.

Another study was also conducted on rats with areas of dead tissue (infarcts) due to a failure of blood supply from diabetes. When these rats were pretreated with CBD, these dead tissue areas were 30% smaller.

Also, chronic inflammation has long been known to play a key role in the development of insulin resistance and therefore type 2 diabetes. CBD has been found to reduce chronic inflammation due to a multitude of causes, and has even outperformed many over the counter and prescription medications.

The researchers believe that the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD can treat inflammation associated with diabetes, and because of this, improve the body's metabolism.

In addition, researchers went on to state that the immune system, cell growth, sugar metabolism and heart function all also appear to prospectively benefit from CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties. One doctor went on to state that "Unlike insulin and other existing medications for diabetes, CBD may actually suppress, reverse and perhaps cure the disease," Other studies have found that CBD and related compounds helped combat insulin resistance.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to CBD’s impact on diabetics. With hemp based research becoming legal again, we should see an explosion of academic articles on this topic in 2019. As always, I’ve linked the scientific studies I’ve cited in the description below. If you have any questions, or want me to tackle an issue or ailment that CBD may be able to help, just leave a comment below!

Take care, and the best of health to you and yours!
